1987Porsche Carrera E-Brake

My e-Brake light will not go off after I release the handle, Any ideas to cure this issue?

Mine is the same. I keep the button pressed and drop the lever to the very bottom and then it goes off. If its not all the way down to the last millimetre it can stay on

There is a small switch that controls this light. If im reading the part diagram correctly it is part number 901 613 521 20, it is a small contact that the back of the E-break handle rubs against. Dont remember if its NO or NC but any how it is most likely dirty or obstructed. The one on my 78 was cracked when I opened my E-Brake to deal with some other things, I find no use for the light so I just pulled the piece and forgot about it. To clean it or replace it you will need to remove the E-brake handle and take the assembly apart. Be careful when you do this, the yoke that the two E-Brake cables connect to can be difficult to get back on when putting the assembly back together.

Regards
Dave

Check your brake fluid too. Not sure on your year, but the low fluid sensor lights the same light.

Same here...every time I release the brake it takes one more push of the button to release to the bottom...and my brake fluid level is fine.
