Sport mounts: non-German OK?
Our host is out of German-sourced sport motor/trans mounts with no estimate for a re-stocking date. The only sport mounts available are made by "Rein Automotive" (which I assume is Chinese...p/n 911-375-043-07-M203).
Anyone use these? Suitable? ![]() ![]() |

I have 'em. They didn't burst into flames upon removal of the box or anything. IMO the only difference is price.

I bought a set from our host here.
Either they are made from a very poor casting or stamping which is then final machined using a piece of 40 grit sandpaper, or more likely, they are Original Porsche parts that have had the maker's mark ground off, been replated with trivalent chromium conversion coating and then had new bushings pressed in. Functionally I bet they are fine, but the aesthetics were such that I sold the set I bought at a loss.

I've often wondered about this.
In the "944 world" there are aftermarket motor mounts that cost less than OEM. Although they are a different design, they are basically metal pieces bonded to rubber too. There is a ton of anecdotal information indicating that the lifespan of the aftermarket OEM mounts is significantly less. Does this carry over to 911s? I don't know, but is does give me pause. |

Another option is to spend a little more and get the Wevos.

We hope these will be ok. I just ordered a set. Was assured that the quality was good. They are made in India I was told...

I have no personal experience with them. However, I've had a bit of experience trying to use less expensive aftermarket parts on this car....with poor results. I don't always like it, but from now on I prefer to use OEM or upgrades such as Wevo and Elephant Racing.

I ran into the same problem...
I ordered the sport mounts from Pelican and still have them in the bags. The machine work was not the best, and the bolt holes appear to have been hand filed, etc.. I'm sure they will work fine, but I chose to re-order the standard mounts.
The standard mounts (the cheaper URO parts) are better finished & plated, with a thicker center metal mount and feel a bit heavier. Some people have commented that URO parts are junk, but I've been very pleased with the numerous URO parts purchases I've made (SC sump screen, relays, aforementioned motor mounts to name a few). If you want my new sport mounts I'll let them go for $30.00 shipped - they're not doing me any good. I just pulled them out to inspect them, never installed - just though I'd offer since we were on the subject! |

I bought a set of the so-called "sport" mounts from our host and I think they're pretty mediocre. Might be ok for the street but on track they flex a lot; enough to cause misalignment of the shifter linkage and difficult shifting on full throttle corner exits due to the engine/transaxle flexing in their mounts.

******, a Porsche and BMW supplier in Miami are selling "MEYLE" sport mounts. Their Tech advisor told me that they are a little stiffer than Sport or Cab mounts and that the BMW guys swear by them. Has anyone heard of MEYLE?

Meyle makes quite a few suspension pieces for BMWs. A few people have had some problems but they are otherwise quite popular.
