Engine Lid Shock/Strut

Anyone know the part # for engine Lid Shock/Strut for the 911 SC (1983)?

I can't seem to locate/find this part on our host site.

Apologies in advance if this topic has been covered before.

Thanks!

Click the New Parts Catalog up top on this page then click the "Try our new parts catalog" on the left hand side. It will take you to Porsche's parts diagram in pdf format. Dig in and find your model and then search through the body section of the PDF for you part and it's number.

Says to use the 02 suffix vs the 01.

Finally got around to installing the engine lid shock/strut.

Here's how it went ....

Overall took ~ 40 min. Had a minor mishap where the locking clip fell into the engine bay. Luckily, I was able to to spot it and fish it out with a hemostat.

I had the Bentley Manual with me and noticed that the existing shock/strut was installed backwards --- compared to Bentley manual.

The existing had the thick (cylinder end) on the lid hinge, and the thin (piston) end in the engine bay hinge. Bently's manual showed a pix that had exact opposite. So, I searched for a diagram here on PP and confirmed Bentley's config.

Install was fairly straightforward. The most difficult part was installing the final locking clip at the hinge in the engine bay. That itself took ~ 15 min. I was careful to tie the pin and clip to dental floss --- just in case I dropped it again.

Anyways, it works like a charm!

BTW --- the shock I purchased/installed (from PP here) is the Stabil type --- not the Weltmeister heavy duty type. It's working fine --- hopefully it will last a few years.

Thanks for all who pointed me to the right part #.
