Next SC Suspension mod
I've been through the archives, and on this one every point made was later contradicted. So I thought I'd throw it out and try and steer things.
I got a small taste of the track last year, and plan much more time this year. 5-6 Autox and 3-4DE's. I've got an 81 SC 55,000 miles Euro ride height turbo tie rods new toyo's All new bushings NewBilstien HD shocks all around New Pagid Pads Rotors are in great shape New brake lines Brey krause Truss & Harnesses ( on the way) If it were you and you had to add one more "upgrade" ( $800 - $1,000 limit) to prepare for the track this spring what would it be. I'm thinking sway bars, she handles pretty nicely, but the body roll is there. Thanks Jeff C |
I would go for the brake duct cooling kit available from Pelican (see tech article).
Also, safety is a nice thing to have ie. cage, harness, seats. An extra set of R-rated tires is another nice thing to have. It is terrible to be at the start of a 3 day weekend and to flat spot your only set of tires. Gee, have we spent all the money yet??? |
Race bucket(s).
I know what you mean about body roll. I think your car already has sway bars. I want to get rid of some body roll too, but I am not going to do it with sway bars. Instead, I'd install bigger torsion bars. The weakness of these is what make the car roll. Stiff enough torsion bars and you don't need sway bars at all. Sometimes race cars forego the sway bars entirely. And bigger torsion bars achieve this effect with less harshness than bigger sway bars. |
