Seat compatibility

Hello everyone,
Posted this in the 912 section but wanted to try here as well since this forum probably gets more traffic...
I have a 67 912 and was thinking about putting later seats from a 911 (for better support and headrests). Up to what year seats will bolt in without drilling new holes? Thanks

Up through 1973 seats should bolt right in. The easiest would be 1974 or later seats and a set of weltmeister seat adapters, which allow the later oem seats to bolt directly to your car's seat mounts. You can find such seats inexpensively.

Up to 73 will fit but you can make/get a bolt in adapter for later seats.

You can do a search for early Seat adapter in the 911 forum to get more info and ideas on how to proceed.

You should find this thread: Early 911 SC seat adapter template??

Keep in mind that using the adapters will raise you up higher. Custom adapters can be made to lower the seat.

I think it depends on the seats and adapters. My adapter plates are only about 1/4" thick and the seat bottoms of of later seats are thinner than the stock seats so I actually sit lower than I would with my stock seat.
