Porsche Crest Awasome video from France!

We, over here in Europe, are often flabbergasted at things U.S., you know, California et.al. I get the feeling the reverse is, likewise, true.
Ok, so let's go for some "cultural exchange". Watch this video!

I ain't no computer whiz, but I managed to open the video by downloading the other files, some video and/or sound machine of sorts, but the end result is ... not for MY car! Enjoy!

And then suddenly it's slippery, too much speed, braking too late...aarrgh

Thanks Paul for posting that link - great stuff! I wonder what gearbox and engine he had in that car???

Listen closely - you can hear him on the rev limiter during that final stretch of road. Cool man! (Well, cool except for the bit involving the wall...)

Thanks for the link. WOW

Narrow roads and crazy fans eh!

edit: my player locks the file up with 5 seconds to go, right after the shunt. Does it do that for you? I have to three finger it to get out of the program.

Not for me. I used MS MediaPlayer 7.1, then installed the codec.

Right , you DL the video , then you DL the codec file and it works in windows media player 7.

I grabbed the third file and it is a player program . It is what locked my system up!

I tried it after in WinMedia 7 and it worked well.

That car was something else, definately a keeper!

Thanks for that Reg

This video is way cool. I was just starting to watch it when my school kids came in from lunch. They crowded around too and you should have heard the 'oooh's' when he hit the off track!

Thanks too to Paul. Love watching a racing Porsche.

Cheers

Meanwhile I read the member responses on the forum of "our" clubsite www.club911.net and one states:

-the driver is said to be Gilles NANTET, who would be a respected Porsche rally driver

-the car is not a turbo

-would weigh in at less than 1000 kilos (2200 lbs)

-engine 3.6 liter with 350 bhp

-short gear, top speed 220 kph (137 mph)

Notice how good the sound recording is! Our French forum extensively discusses the what, how and why's of the driver's progression towards the ... crash.

I'm in the same boat... i downloaded it...
It's telling me that i don't have the required "Decompressor" to run it. Soooo...I went to Microsofts website and downloaded the new version of internet explorer.... still no go.
I can hear it...but no video.

You need DivX-codec...it has nothing to do with Microsoft...there is a copy @ the same place you downloaded movie from:

That driver had a hell of a run while it lasted. I just wish my transmission could shift as smooth as his.
