How Strong Is Your Porsche?

hello all. Just had to vent.....my 1981 911sc was rear ended today while I was sitting at a stop. It appeared to be a pretty big bang when hit. Got out waiting to see the rear all crumpled. All that was damaged was the left license plate light. Easly replaced. The point is ...the two cars behind me (escort) & (Toyota) looked like they were total goners. Like accordians.
So...my Porsche is TUFF!

Thank you for sharing that, John.

And all SC owners can thank their safety bumpers w/ fat rubber bumperettes for the sensible protection they offer.

The derision some early car owners (you know who you are) give us over our fat bumpers, is easily forgotten when some moron rear ends you.

I can agree, John.

I got rear-ended while sitting at a red light. The Lexus LS400 that hit me, had some pretty substantial front end damage, and when I saw that, I expected to see a twisted hulk of 911, with a trashed engine etc.

The damage was minimal. The bumperettes (RoW cars have much more sledner ones to the "Ralph Nader" spec cars) were visibly scarred and the rear bumper was slightly bent, but the whole car was straight and in the clear. I guess even so, that it was a little hard for the Lexus owner's insurance assessor to justify that it was over AU$1200!
