Painted or Chrome H4 rings on my early 930

I absoloutely love the look of body color matching rings on a 930, but I have an early car, ( Peru Red), and all of the trim is shiny . I think the chrome rings would look sweet as well.. I am torn , would like to hear some of your suggestions. Anybody have any pics of an early turbo with chrome rings and h4's?. I am stealing the H4's off my SC, I will replace them with a set of e bay score H5's. THe rings on the SC are painted now, Is there a chrome ring under the paintable ring? This would be the best, maybe I can flop between the two until I make up my mind.

It all depends what "look" you are after. Chrome will give your car the look akin to the original M491 Carrera of 1973. Painted rings will give it a more typical vintage 930 look.

Although I don't have an early 930, I do have an '84 M491 Carrera that I have been back-dating and "outlawing a bit". It originally had white colored headlight bezels which overlaid the chrome bezels, as you can see, are removed. I have recently added wire lense guards to protect the yellow lenses. Here are a few pics.

The next step is the possibility of changing the chrome bezels & stone wire mesh lense guards over to black...

Okay, now, Let's see some pictures of your ride!

I tend to think those are rare cars. I'd keep it stock.

I think the chrome rings really pop....but only with the right combination of vehicle and color.

I guess the chrome would look best if you have little pieces of brightwork existing already....then the rings would really be a good addition.

But if everything is already color-matched, then not so much.

just my .02 cents..,.
