My new Porsche 911 project..is it too pink?
We're supposed to show off our new P-cars so here's my new addition!
I rushed across town to get this car... needs a few little things here and there, but it's vintage 1991 and difficult to find these days. My daughter has been wanting a pink Porsche 911...like her auntie's (in the background).... can't believe I found one! I'll be doing a body off restoration before surprising her. Hope there's no rust issues.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1295926407.jpg My daughter and Barbie will cruising the sidewalk! |
....it can never be too pink for a Princess.....:D

Nice James! Think it can clear the crossings on Cow Creek Road?

Pretty cool...for a cab. ;) Is a new "plate" NLA? Seems to be lacking a "B".
Overall, sure to be a hit! "...very little rust issues.". LOL |
I´m sure some would say it can never be too pink

A quick anecdote about pink Porsches;
A few years back a lady in Stockholm sold a factory painted bright pink 964 (Targa if I remember correctly). The lady had bought it new from one of the Porsche Centers here in Sweden. A background story came with the car. An arab Sheik had a harem consisting of 11 women and had decided to treat them to a pink Porsche each. However, by the time the cars left the factory he had kicked out one of the ladies and thus only needed 10 pink cars. Alas, the lady in Sweden got herself a unique car.:) |
Several years ago a friend of mine had a 914-6. I cannot remember what color it was. He DE'd the car and autocrossed it in PCA events for several years.
At some point he took it to a famous body shop and arranged for a ding removal and a paint job, not a total restoration. He told them he wanted it done in the original color. The paint code was on the driver side "A" pillar. They checked and called one day and said "are you sure you want the original color?" and he said "Yes". A few weeks later they called and said the car is ready, and he arranged to pick it up. It was the color of pepto-bismo. The German name for it translated as "light red". It looked like a "Mary Kay Cosmetics" car, except it was not a Caddy. So, there were some real ones almost that color. My grand kids would love it. |
Keep away from flames.

Certainly a fine color for your daughter, but it might look really cool painted to match yours.
