911 Leaking Oil

Hi,
I'm a newbie 911 person and have found while inspecting the underside of the car oil to be on both sides of the engine. It doesn't appear to leak much because there isn't a puddle under the car but there is evidence of oil on the engine. What type of things should a new 911 owner be concerned with? Any help is appreciated.

I also noticed at the oil fill a yellow substance which was oily in it's own way. I take it that it's a build up of moisture / fumes?

I would be worried if my 911 didn't have oil under it. So while you can look for the source and see if you can tighten something, I would not worry too much about it. As far as the frothy yellow stuff at the oil filler, that is normal also.

Right . Looks like the usual yellow "cheesy" stuff that forms due to moisture in the engine/oil. Drive it more often/and longer drives. Get it up to operating temp to drive out the moisture.
What year and model is the car?

looks like you have a 996. An oil leak from the rear main seal or intermediate shaft can be serious. Water in the oil can also be serious (or in can be nothing). you should get an oil analysis done ASAP.
