Stolen car tracking/recovery device ?
Came across this--->
Earth Products & Accessories ....for those of you truly plugged-in to such technologies....can this be a small ciovert device to add to your car to aid in stolen car recovery? Is this like LoJack, better, worse, etc?

It will do nothing to identify where your car is if you no longer have access to it because it has no way to transmit that information to law enforcement unlike LoJack that transmits around 173 MHz. If you had a car stolen and it was in place, it would tell you after the fact if recovered where it had been.
Regards, Roger

I tried Zoombak for a while with mixed results.
It relies on cellular coverage, and their particular carrier does not have good coverage in our rural areas. Unfortunately, rural areas are where many of the stolen things end up. Your results may be very different in cities or in areas where the carrier has better coverage. Another strike against the Zoombak is that it's transmitter does not seem to penetrate much in the way of obstacles. If your car is taken into a garage (chop shop) you may lose the signal. Not to say that these problems only exist for the Zoombak. They are the same problems that any similar unit will have if using cellular. IE: the Dewalt Mobile Lock, LiveView, etc

I have the Drone mobile system installed on my SC and it works great. Its made from a company called First tech. Lock, unlock arm, disarm ,start stop all from your cell phone or computer. Alarm alerts and full history of what the car is doing all the time. Voltage and temp can be checked too. Full GPS track with geo fencing and auto starter kill if it decides to drive away by its self? Monitor average speed of the automobile if some one else is driving your baby(ya right).I have a motion sensor installed so it will warn me when someone walks by it no mater where i am, across the street or across the country. Oh, no affil with the company, it just works but can be pricey.

There are hundreds of companies offering "Lo-Jack" type devices that are self-monitored, but you still have to pay "the man", typically ranging from $15 ~ $30/mo. and up. |
