Porsche Crest brake light slow to come on

HI, i have a 72 targa and when i brake ive noticed i have to press fairly hard before the brake light lights up, can i adjust this to come on sooner , thanks , pud ,

Just check the switch right behind the brake pad. Very easy to adjust.

That's correct. You need to pull away the carpet and the (wooden) floor plate. The brake pad activates (or actually de-activates) a switch. There is a little screw to adjust the (de)-activation point. Sometimes the lever to the switch is bended a bit. In that case, just bend it back!

About de-activation. The Porsche engineers figured out that permanent brake lights is better then no brake lights at all. So if the connection between your brake pedal and switch breaks, your brake lights will be lit permanently. Annoying but at least safe.
