Does anyone have any experience with installing an "Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator" and/or increasing the size of their fuel injectors? My mechanic in Livermore (used to work for Porsche - named Detlev) indicated to me that it would be a waste of money for me to change to a new header system (SSI) or a mass flow sensor. He indicated that if I simply changed my Feul pressure regulator, increased the size of the injectors, replaced the Catalytic with a racing model, and them remapped the chip, I could probably get at least 20 more horses out of my 85' Carrera. Any thoughts? Thanks

I think you would probably need to add more air to the mixture.

Stock regulator, fuel pump, and injectors (all in good working order) will supply more than enough fuel to a 3.2 carrera with bolt on mods. Mine puts out about 247 HP with exhaust, chip, and Mass air flow, and is still very rich (11.8:1) at top end of 6800 RPM.
The guy who did my chip really jacked up the injector pulse width above 6000 to (I think) avoid detonation, hence it goes really rich above 6000. My Fuel pressure with stock regulator is 36 PSI at WOT. |

Where are you located? In the East Bay somewhere? I would love to meet your mechanic in Livermore, provided it's Livermore, CA
