power steering?

what do you racer guys like mike and such running 10 inch fronts do for steering? power steering? plain old, plain old? something else?

I've seen it done on a daily 3.2 but it's a PITA... The Rack and pump were taken from a Ford Laser from the 80s. (Mazda equivalent)

IMO It's not wise to add complexity to a race car.

i'd be intrested in more info on that upgrade. especially if it's from cheap a 80s econobox.

any oponions the guys running crazy widths? to complicated? not nessccary?

It's his daily so it's pretty much stock everything.

He's a member of the local Porsche club, a lawyer and about 70 years old. He told me he can't retire because he loves his work so much.
A local shop did the conversion. The biggest issue was finding a power steering rack that could be modified to fit a 911. The steering column and body were modified as well.
You're best off finding a steering rack with the steering link central on the rack.

But it came from what we call a Ford Laser. Mid 80s econo hatch... It's actually a re badged Mazda.

I'm not sure if this car was ever sold in the US.

after a little research it was sold as the mercury tracer in the US

Have you considered or tried using a large diameter steering wheel?

A 380 or 400 mm diameter wheel can make a significant difference when it comes to leverage. Just a thought.
