Sold my SC...Who's got my new 930

With all due respect the the SCWDP, I now find myself in a transitional phase of Porsche ownership.

I had been very casually mentioning to local fellow Porsche folks that I would entertain offers for my 83 Targa. I also have a dedicated track SC for Club Racing so having two cars that are so similar seemed kind of silly.

I guess I really hadn't expected to sell the car. In fact, in the last couple of months, I have rebuilt the transmission, adjusted the valves, replaced the winshield, and put in a new heater blower motor in addition to normally scheduled items.

I have just always dreamed of owning a Turbo.

Well, last week the call came. A friend of a friend of an aquaintence called and wanted to come by to take a look. With a name like Hans, I thought he really might be the one to buy the car. After two visits and drives, he made an offer which I accepted. I did manage to keep the 930S steering wheel as part of the deal, which I will transplant to my next car.

All in all, I am sad to see the Targa go. It has been a great car for me, as I'm sure it will be for the new owner. He is getting a great car that has all the needed upgrades for DE like 22 and 28mm torsion bars, Carrera cooler with a fan, tensioners, turbo tie rods, etc.

On the plus side, I've got a few bucks towards a 930 and I've now got room in the garage for it!

So the search begins: Anyone out there got a clean 930, probably a 78 or 79, US car that is mostly origial that they want to part with? I'm in Denver but will travel for the right car.

Thanks for your help in my quest,

Jess

How about this one?

I don't know if it is still for sale, but if I was in the market for a 930 the one I would try to buy is "Doc's Turbo" 1984 Gemini Gray, black leather, slope nose, box rockers, RSR rear wing, front spoiler. B&B custom exhaust and header, Autothority dyno tested at 500hp, K-27, huge intercooler, Big- Reds, 18" wheels, coil over suspension, custom dash.

The best parts are that Doc (Emerand?) was considered to be the best tuner in the area- and this was his personal car. He invested 1000s of hours and $$$$$ to "create this ultimate Porsche". Also, Bruce Anderson knows the car and considers it "lethal".

I do not know of this car personally- but saw the add w/ the above info in the Peachstate Porsche Presse. They say it is very streetable and excellent on the track.

They are asking (or were) $39,900. The contact is raymorgan@mindspring.com. if you have any intrest.

Jess, everybody (well, maybe a few) want to know - was your bargaining power improved with the SCWDP sticker in the window? I've heard rumors of an automatic 15-20% increase in an SC's value (far less than the increased power claims).

Of course, it could just be rumors....

Brian,

Actually, the sticker is on my race car.

Maybe just the sight of it is what closed the deal, though!
