Brake fluid overflow drain goes where?
 

Hi everyone,
My friend Moe and I are restoring his Euro '74 911 and we can't figure out where the drain for the brake fluid overflow goes though the bottom of the car. On this car the brake fluid overflow line joins the vent for the gas tank vapor tank and then the shared tube goes someplace. On a "normal" US car, the gas vapors are drawn into a charcoal canister. THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE A CHARCOAL CANISTER OR ANY VACUUM OR PRESSURE LINES GOING UP FRONT.
Moe replaced the front pan so perhaps the hole for the tube disappeared with the old pan.

On PRE '74 models, the tube exits behind the front bumper. I've made an extension for mine, ran it through the front torsion bar protective plate and let any fluid exit underneath from there. Look almost directly up from the torsion bar, see if there might be a hole in the trunk metal, behind the bumper? That's where you'd find the exit in a PRE '74. May or may not be there in your car, but worth a look?

In my US spec '76 the brake vent/overflow drain goes through one of the plastic plugs (the one on the driver's side) in the panel behind the front bumper. I'm not sure about the ROW spec but in the US '74 models the tank vent went to the back of the car to a charcoal cannister and attachment to engine. Perhaps in the ROW the lines join and go out the front panel plastic plug. :) Jim

Right out the front just like everyone esles. 77 Carrera 3.0.
Make sure you use the "red" braided hose. It is the brake fluid proof stuff. And the little elbow dohicky. ( technical term ).

The damn battery went dead in the camera yesterday.

I have the front bumper off to put the IROC/RS bumpers on. What you have is the close up. But if you'd don't know where it is, that won't help much.

I'll shoot a couple more tonight.

Glad I could help.
Remember you have to use the RED hose. Brake fluid will melt the regular stuff. Part # N 020.361.2 Bulk Vent Hose 4 * 1.5mm.

After I looked at the JPEG. I had to run out to the garage ...and look at that battery corner.

Red hose eh? My friends '74 came from the factory with some sort of clear stuff. I have some blue braided brake hose like you use to connect the reservoir to the master cylinder.
The added photos were extremely helpful.
