Another spare tire question

1988 3.2 coupe, I have one of those compact spare tires that deflates but as can be seen from the picture, it is toast. What are my options? I tried looking for a replacement but nothing is available and I certainly don't want a ancient nos spare. I could use one of those spare tire in a can but I have read that it messes up your tire. Are there any other options other than the can? Of course, I could call a flat bed tow truck in the city but if I am out in the country, it would be cheaper to use the can and limp back home and replace the tire....

I figure that any tire I could repair with "goo in a can", I could instead repair with a tire plug kit and a small 12 volt compressor, both components readily available at a nearby Walmart for less than $30 or so. So that's what I carry in my frunk, along with the ancient spare from 1981 and the jack.

I saw replacement inflatable tires somewhere; I’ll have to see if I can remember where. I do remember them being insanely expensive.

I carry a plug kit and a 12v compressor.

Tire Rack does carry spare tire choices as well if you want to buy new.
