1988 g50 shift issues

I have a low mileage g50 that after one day at drivers ed will not shift very well after 3000rpms. The driver will have to wait for rpms to come down(say below 3000) before making a smooth shift. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The pedal position seems unchanged but hard to tell. If i force it, it will go into gear at higher rpms but you really have to muscle it.

Hows your shift tower bushings ? and what about your tranny fluid ?
I had to replace the bushings in my 88 911 a couple of years ago. They are plastic and rubber
they just wear out,go bad.Lots of posts here on replacing the shifter bushings. What brand/weight tranny fluid you using ?

Check to see if you are loosing any brake fluid. And see if the slave is leaking.

Is the release shaft bound up? Did this happen one day after sitting, all of the sudden, or gradually? Mileage?

How is your fluid level ? Always good to check.

What John is saying is that if there is anything keeping the clutch from fully releasing, there will be a problem with shifting unless you rev match.

g50 issues

just had tranny fluid changed- to spec - no difference. What the last post said about shift matching is true. If i rev it up to 2000rpms it pops into gear much easier. There are no leaks. Tranny only has 60,000 miles but is most likely the original clutch.

Have we come to the point about asking whether the clutch fork support bearings are going bad...as ALL G50's prior to April 89 build date will do..... unless the factory or aftermarket fixes are done?

Isn't there the rubber center clutch disc also, if it is original? If the DE event started the disintegration process, that could muck up the works also.

The rubber-centered clutch fiascos deal primarilly with the SC versions that didn't have the internal metallic stops to limit movement. True enough, the G50 versions started again to use rubber-centered clutches ( after the 3.2's spring-centered)....but the G50 versions were much more stout and had mechanical limit stops for angular rotation. Still could be a problem , but I would think less so.
