what are the pros & cons?

In Waynes new 101 thing to do book, he mentions solid motor mounts I know some race cars have this would it hurt me having it on a daily driver?

I would go with the sport mounts for the everyday driver. I auto x my 72 and most told me to get the sport mounts. I noticed a big difference in shifting from first to second. Before, I could feel the eng, and tranny move. Not any more.
Very easy to do the motor mounts, A little more invovled doing the tranny. You have to jimmy the eng and tranny just right. Get a friend to help you move the jack while your under the car.

I think what tobluforo was talking about are not SOLID mounts but the sport mounts. These are firmer than factory but not solid. I have heard that unless it is a race application the solid mounts are too tight and there are a lot of vibrations etc.

Man, Wayne noted that in the 101 things to do to your car book that the solid mounts were a great upgrade

Solid mounts are wonderful for a track/limited street use car. They keep your shifts tight and crisp. (The club sport mounts, others refer to here, are very good for the majority of street cars. We have used them in everyday executive driven cars with no complaints. The club sports are rubber with steel insert- look just like the original ones in your car)
Solid mounts however will transfer a lot of noise from the transmission/ engine into the interior. At idle, it could sound like a coffee can with marbles rolling around inside!

I have heard of folks putting the sport mounts on just the motor. Anyone doing this? Will I still notice a difference?

cheers
