You don't say what color... I found that Nissan Super White is a perfect match for Grand Prix white.

Went through this deal. Spray cans are non-existant anymore. The little lipstick size bottle at the dealer is the only game I found. Cross matches would be great to know about. But I needed Guards Red. No substitute found.

If you go to automotive stores, places that supply body shops? They can blend about any color code you can think of. The problem is, you'll have to buy more than you'll ever have a use for as touch up. But if you really want it, and can't come up with a better source...this is an option.

I have used www.paintscratch.com and have been very satisfied with their products. Good match for my '82 pacific blue.

www.paintscratch.com I have never purchased from them, but my brother has and they carry specific paint colors for specific models and model years. And they even list my color #182 Chiffon White. Good luck.............. ![]()

not sure on the '87's...but in '72 there is a little square metal tag on the driver's side forward door jam...but visit the site, you'll probably find your color. And guys, thanks for the tip!

Any competent auto paint shop can mix paint for you. They can either mix it according to the formula of your paint, using the Porsche paint code, or they can just match the paint on your car if the cods is unknown. They can load it in a rattle can for you too.

The #464 tobacco metallic paint on my 79SC is no longer available at the dealer. I've been putting off searching for a supplier although I could use some touch up paint now. I'm concerned that either the size or quantity of the small metal flake in the paint won't match if I buy it other than from the dealer.
Does anyone know who the OEM paint supplier to Porsche was? Or have they used several? Can these current suppliers match metallic paint well? |

I've heard that tower paint also does paint code matching and their spray cans aren't too much $. I haven't used them myself...has anyone used them w/ success?

Touch Up Paint
I have also had a quart of touch-up paint made at the local professional paint shop. They were able to make a batch from the factory paint codes. I had to buy a quart though for about $20.00 but the touch up tubes at Paintscrath would cost about $15.00 anyway.
BTW, on SC's color codes found inside luggage compartment on left inside fender wall under the carpet.

A second time: Any competent auto paint shop can mix you some paint. Many codes are not available from the dealer. I have heard that certain German metallic paints use different flakes that cannot be perfectly matched, but I don't know about that. Yes, metallic paints are harder to match perfectly. If your paint is not particularly oxidized or faded, then the paint shops will do a good job of matching. Some guys can just match paint by sight/trial. And then you have them load some of it in a can. You they have these new one-shot reloadable things that are not too spendy that are supposed to do a good job. they probably also have little dauber bottles too. Or clean out your old touchup dauber bottle.

I can confirm Nissan Super White is a dead match for Porsche Grand Prix White. Top coat with clear coat and its seamless on my 912e.
Note: to paint any chipped or exposed galvanized under panels where bare metal is showing, you'll need to use primer that specifically made for galvanized metal. |

Just my experience of paint-maniac :
I use paint without hardener , that my painter prepared me , and hardener separated.(to keep the paint not dryed) I use a pencil , small , and try to find the good mix to obtain a mid-liquid paint. After some applications , the impact can not be seen or re-find. I finish with polish and wax.
