An RSR History Question; Flares

In 1973 the Factory RSR is generally recognized as having 9 and 11 inch flares. I was talking with someone who believes that there was a 1973 Brumos RSR that had with 13 inch flares. It may have been a Peter Gregg car. I am familiar with the 1974 having a 13 inch flares at the rear, but have never seen them on a Factory RSR from 1973.

This picture shows what "may" be a wider rear flare, but I am only guessing.

from what I understand the Brumos car had some wider flares made here locally in Jacksonville. I know "Hairy Glass" is a local fiberglass company that did stuff for them way back when. I also have a close friend who's father use to get the cars back into shape in the very early Brumos racing days. I recall reading (in Excellence I believe) about the Brumos RSR and it even said something like "flares look like the kind of thing that would come out of Jacksonville, FL in the early 70's"....or something like that. I think basically saying they looked like some redneck threw them together.

From the factory the cars had 9 & 11 flairs, as the teams campaigned the cars and the rules allowed they got modified/repaired. When the '74 RSR came along many teams upgraded their body work and you would have seen 73 cars with bits an pieces of 74 cars. As the season went along many cars changed from race to race either because of crash repair or upgrade.

I did, thank you, it is great. I'll get back to you when I hear on the other cars.

Thanks for the replies. It makes sense that the 1973 cars would receive the additional body work for the 74 season.
