Pertronix Ignitor

Comments? Wondering if it's worth the $ to lose the points on my stock '74 2.7.
Thanks.

I have had good luck with mine for over 5 years. Timing never changes and it has been fool proof so far. Has worked well with the original 3 pin CDI box too.

Works "Great" well worth the money and just plane simple.

Search function is your friend on this site. I have used Pertronix on my '72 and '74, both worked fantastic but you might use some loctite on the mount bracket screw. I also could not get my '72's rev limiter rotor to fit under the cap afterwards so I had to use a standard Bosch rotor. YMMV

Eliminated all sorts of points problems I had on my 76 stock 2.7L. Well worth the expenditure.

Many thanks all. I'll put one on my "get" list.

Ditto,
Was talking to Jerry Woods, about my rebuild, he suggested the Pertronix, when I said I already had one installed he just smiled and nodded.

I had the Pertronix in 4 diffident cars. I removed it from all of them when I realized they always kept the same ignition timing, but all cylinders were significantly different. This was quite a few years ago , but I believe I saw 6-8 degrees difference between cylinders on all 4 cars. I put the points back in, all of the cars ran smoother.
I contacted Pertronix and discussed it with their engineers. They recognized this is a flaw, but had no intention to fix it. The problem is there in no time averaging and no compensation for the differences in magnet strength for the 6 magnets.
Most of the 911s have CD therefore the points don't burn and will last a very long time.
