Rear Deck Lid Misaligned After New Shock Installation

Replaced the sagging double shocks on a 85 Targa rear deck lid with the Pelican double shock kit. Installed properly per directions. Once trunk was closed it appears that the damping force of the new shocks pushed the driver corner of the lid rearward about an 1/8 of an inch. Just enough to jam the pin against the latch enough to not be able to open the lid. I knew the shocks had some serious power but am now trying to figure out how to free the pin from latch to open the lid. Anyone have a similar issue?

Push the lid down flat/straight while a helper pulls on the release. Carefull not to push in the middle and dent the lid. Push on the extreme lower corners. This should get the lid open. Remove one of the shocks.

I'm guessing 84-86 Carreras have different engine lid hinges?

I always hated how my lid always looked slightly misaligned so I bought two new hinges and guess what, you can't install one for the passenger side hinge. Well my engine lid still looks misaligned.

Was able to open rear deck lid by pushing driver side (where shocks were) of lid carefully forward enough to let the pin come out of the lid latch. You can adjust the lid at the hinges to make minute adjustments. Did this first then took Pelican's advice and replaced one of the new shocks with an old one so not so much force was applied to the hinges. Then adjusted the lid back to original alignment.

I just replaced my hinges and the exact same thing happened. I ended up loosening the bolts that hold the deck lid on and readjusted the deck lid. I considered going back to the original struts but after I readjusted the lid it not only looks a lot better but the deck opens and closes perfectly.
