wheels and handling
can anyone tell me weather switching from 6 and 7 by 16" wheels to 7 and 9 by 16" will affect the handling of my 85 carrera? thanks!

OHHH YEAH baby!!!! :D :D :D :D
I get some understeer now... 205 fronts. The rear 245/45/16s are REALLY hard to break loose comparing to when I had 7s in the rear. When auto-xing I usually power slide the rear end, as opposed to before, with 7s, I went around. It almost seems more difficult to recover from a rear slide with the 9s, but then again, I had near bald tires then. :D |
nick,
so you would reccomend this change? your car handles better overall? thanks so much. carlos  |
I would say it gets a little light in the rear when it rains. These spin easily.
I am running Bridgestone Re730s 205/55-16 and 245/45-16. Others say they have had little to no problems. I like my Yoko better in the dry, worse in the wet. I will go with 225/50 fronts next time. This should reduce the inital front end push. I am quite low now after a corner weight check. The biggest benefit I think so far has been to get a four wheel alignement. :D What kind of driving do you do? |
