I redid mine with some marine vinyl I bought at Joann (sp?) fabric store. It worked fine and I am happy with the result. Only problem is the closest color to match my cork interior was beige, and it is not that close...but black should work great. It really is easy to do: unscrew and remove he whole piece, remove old covering material, staple new in, trim, reinstall. Vinyl is easy to work with because it stretches a bit.

I went back with leather... I had my dash recovered and at the same time I order enough extra leather to cover the package tray. However the under lament was badly warped from the old leather shrinking so I had to do a lot of repair to the under lament before covering with the new leather. I think the vinyl will take the sun better, but I wanted to go back with original to my car.

If you're going to make any changes or upgrades to your speakers, now would be the time to do it...

Where did you get your dash re-covered? And may I ask how much you paid?

I've been looking for a while for someone to help me that does not break the bank.

Johan,

I had Tony Garcia of Autobahn Interiors - San Diego, California repair the under lament structure and recover the dash. The recover was $650. Tony did a fine job. This work was done about year ago.

Straightening a warped Package Tray...

Jerry,

Because mine was covered in leather it had shrunk and warped the under lament. I took a damp towel and a steam iron and got mine back pretty flat. However the laments of the board opened up from the steam so once the laments had dried out I poured epoxy down into the openings, (covered the area with Saran Wrap) then clamped 2X6 boards top and bottom until the epoxy had set up.

Because I have the equipment, I lined the top and bottom edges with .030" alum. and riveted the doublers together so the board won't warp again.
