Am I screwed?

This may be more suitable for the 'Paint & Body Forum', but here goes anyway.

Can this front lens be repaired by some type of glue or bonding process? I done the 'search thing' & have come up a bit short. I would like to have input from board members on this seemingly simple question. I really don't want to mess this up & have it look like a 'hack' repair job; then have to go to the expense & bother of finding a replacement lens. It does appear as though it was previously glued/repaired by a PO with 'crazy glue' or something similar. It simply fell apart when I removed it from the car.

Thanks in advance & Cheers
JB

If you glue it it will crack again because of the three screws that hold it in place. Just get a new one.

If you really want to patch it together and take a chance, try using E6000 Glue.

To use, clean the mating surfaces with Isopropyl Alcohol followed by Acetone.

Allow to dry.

Apply a bead of E6000 to one side and hold the two halfs together for about 2 minutes (it will seem like several eternities).

Put the piece down somewhere where there will be no stress on the new joint and allow to set for two days.

Sometimes this works, sometimes it don't. You can try to reglue the joint if it fails the first time.

You will always see the crack.

My suggestion: Post on the classifieds here and on the Early 911S Registry: WTB Front turn signal lense for 19XX 911. People will repond with parts.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll try Harry's suggestion for the short term fix. I guess I'll have to lash out buy a replacement. Again, much appreciated.

Cheers

Is that the front turn signal lens?

I cracked mine in 5 or 6 pieces when a parking ramp decided a speedbump should be right at the bottom of the ramp. My bumper (fiberglass) was ripped off, and this lens cracked from the bumper. This was all trying to go as sideways as possible over it (couldn't back up).

I epoxied my lens for the time being, and bought a replacement in the process. LOL, my replacement has been sitting in my basement for 3 years because I never notice it on the car until I get really close.

As tobluforu mentioned, its the 3 screws mounting that will screw you up... Might want to use only 2 screws for the short term fix.
