and now its an.. Electric Windows Issue
Uh oh. One thing after another. Got the car home (issue mentioned in other post) and the passenger window now won't shut. Swapped the switch with another but nothing. Its really late here (after midnight) so need a quick fix! Where its parked means I really need it shut - is there a manual way to do this?
Thanks for the other replies too regarding fuel pump.

How old is your car? Sometimes as a car get older and particularly when its wet the window will stick in the window track. This is due to the felt in the track wearing off. Try lifting slightly on the window while activating the switch. If thats not it, time to check for power to the motor.

I tried lifting with/without the button pressed. It slides down fine but wouldn't move up. Thinking wiring perhaps (its an '81) but really would like to just manually close it if possible so I can sleep well

pull off the door panel and operate
even if you've never done it before it's mostly self explanatory

Not quite self explanitory when I can't quite get the door card off (tools are in storage due to moving). Can see and get to a fair bit behind the card though... Any pointers/hints?

you need tools to operate
this assumes that the motor operates but window is jammed if either door motor doesn't operate it could be a door switch, fuse or relay in the front trunk

The driver's window operates up/down fine. When I picked up the car the driver-side control for the passenger window would only operate down. The driver-side switch for passenger window stopped working for altogether at the same time as the passenger-side switch only allowed the window to go down (which is still occuring).

those 3 switches are tied together and i don't remember all the details on what happens if one of them goes kaput and how it affects the others
if me i'd probably start by disconnecting the drivers side window motor harness and jump it directly to the battery if the motor is completely dead now and this is all i have in my notes POWER WINDOW SW.---- JW says, looking at the back of the switch, with the single terminal at the top, the red wire goes to the top and bottom right, the brown ground goes bottom left, and the two other wires from the motor go on the middle two. if the motor goes the wrong way, swap the middle ones. the right window won't work if the left window switch is bad, or wired wrong POWER WINDOWS ------ diagram and tips Power Window Switch schematic - Pelican Parts Technical BBS

I'd first try a different switch and/or connections (clean?) at the passenger side switch on the driver door.

Tried swapping everything except the drivers-side passenger switch which I just did. Noticed alarmingly that the connections are all wet. Source of my troubles... ...curse the rain gods.
Alarm is fantastic (tested heavily to the neighbour's delight) so am leaving it for the night to dry out. Lesson learnt: Don't open the windows; its a cabriolet just drop the roof as there's no power involvedl! Honestly, I am considering manual winders for the windows. I hate relying on unecessary electricals that can fail. I remember being stuck once in my old 928 with the sunroof and windows open and it wasn't fun then...
