Whats up with these 930 synchro hubs?
Show below are the 2nd. gear dog teeth for a 1986 930. We bought replacements from our host here, and they are aftermarket. It is hard to see in the photo's,but if you look carefully ,you can see that the outside of the factory piece does not have the little extensions on the teeth. The aftermarket piece is also larger in dia. due to the extra tooth extensions. The factory synchro hub can fall right through the slider, while the aftermarket piece is stopped from full engagement into the slider by these little tooth extensions. The factory 3-rd, and 4th gears have these little extensions, and the aftermarket synchro hubs were identical in every way. Just a little hesitant to put it all together only to have it pop out of second.
Any body use these synchro hubs before? This is for 2nd gear, you know the pia one to seperate from the gear, so I'd like to only do this once, although I have my technique down for this . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() All of my photos did not make into the first post, You can see here that the oem synchro hub will fully engage into the slider, while the aftermarket with the external tooth titties will sit slightly proud of the synchro and cannot fully slide in. It still feels like it grabs, and locks in pretty good , I may just assemble it up and see if it fully engages.
