Turn Signal/Headlight Dimmer Switch Wiring

I replaced the turn signal switch in my '77 Carrera 3.0, and although I wrote down all the wiring connections I still managed to come up with a couple of wiring connection issues, as follows. The first two pictures show the new harness installed in the '77 C3.0, the last picture shows the same wiring in my '78 SC for comparison:

1) I cannot find a matching connection for the short grey connector that comes off the new harness by itself about 1/3rd of the way from the connection end. The first picture shows the original black connector (on finger) that was connected on the original harness, but both that and the grey wire on the new harness are female connections. That is a ground, whereas in my '78SC you can clearly see that the grey connector coming off the harness is connected to a grey wire coming off a nearby harness - I cannot find that second grey wire in my '77 C3.0.

2) The yellow loop wire on the old harness in my '77 C3.0 was connected on post 56 of the headlight switch, together with the white/black wire from the same harness, as I have shown in picture #2 with the replacement harness (identified by screwdriver). On my '78 SC, the yellow loop wire coming off the same turn signal harness is connected back onto itself (see bottom picture). Which is correct?

Thanks for any assistance. I've also attached a picture of the MFI engine in the C3.0 to provide some motivation to help me get my wiring figured out.

Bob
