Igintion switch-accesory on and radio wiring

hi guys, im wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram or some info regarding the accessory on position (1980 SC). My fuel pump seems to come on at this stage and I would like to be able to listen to the stereo occasionally without the engine or fuel pump running. I'm not sure if my stereo installers wired it correctly for this car and would like to direct them better. Or is it possible that the fuel pump must always run at the acc on position? Any help would be much appreciated.

thanks SmileWavy

If the fuel pump comes on you passed the ACC position. And, the fuel pump should stop running once fuel pressure rises and the engine is off.

Agree with James, the fuel pump should not run if the engine is not running. You need to check out the fuel pump/relay system.

Hi, thanks for your replies. so, is there a position on the switch where the fuel pump is running without the engine? Or is it the case that the fuel pump only runs with the engine running? im trying to determine if there is another position on the switch in addition to acc on, or whether like you say, my fuel pump relay is wrong.

There is no detent as you turn the key. it just passes over contacts in the switch. Look in the owners manual and it shows where the approximate position of the key.
