Porsche Crest Oil falling of the gearbox, and yellow cream, in 911 sc

Hello everyone, I am new and I had a problem with my Porsche 911sc that is falling oil from the gearbox, I just bought it, and I do have another question, I found yellow cream in the oil plug when I open to measure the oil.

Cheers,

Are you capable of making repairs to the car? If not, have your mechanic look it over.

Gearbox leak could be a simple gasket that needs to be replaced. You need to locate exactly where the leaks originates to get more specific help.

The yellow cream in the oil cap is condensation. Likely casued by the engine not run untill up to temp in a cold climate. It isn't a death sentence but I would consider driving the car more.

Are you checking the oil level correctly? Car up to normal temp, on level ground, running. The accepted level is about halfway between the two hash marks on the dipstick.

Hope this helps.

Yellow cream: You aren't driving the car long enough, there is a lot of oil to heat up. Take it on a long, hot drive.

On the trans, either a seal or if its off the top, the breather is not in correctly.

In the Winter I use a few less quarts of Oil! I put in 8 instead of 10. If you do not drive more than 15 to 20 miles each way the oil will get contaiminated with water. That is why only my wife drives it in the winter she is 20 miles from work and I am 4 miles away. In the Mini Cooper I have a water collector attached to the Engine Vent tube. I need to drain it every 5 ot 6 weeks! It holds about 8 ounces

Thanx guys, It was a long ride, 1000 miles, aprox From Holand to Spain.
But it was the coldest week of the year, so I got stuck close to Paris because I had a electric problem that the car did not start, my insurances toke it to a garage and they told me that it is the starter, an I will continue the travel next week.

I do have another question, my gearbox scratching sounds changing the gear, and I am not sure if I am doing wrong or the clutch or the gearbox is not well.
I introduce oil to the max... I have to do it to the middle?
I am really new with the car, sorry for my stupid questions.

Thanks a lot
Alvaro

Some will keep the oil level about in the middle of the dipstick notches. That way you'll have a little room to prevent overfilling and avoid introducing oil into the intake system that could cause heavy white smoke out of the exhaust.

Try halfway and check that your oil pressure is good. (remember to do this on a level surface) Should have around 3 bars at idle.

There are no stupid questions!

Thanks a lot

About the gearbox that scratches up is gearbox problem or clutch problem?
It is rare because driving fast and high rpm do not scratch, and driving with low rpm, scratch a lot.
Always in first gear, when I just start up the car, it scratch a lot too.
Cheers

3bar at idle cold? Depends on the type of oil you run.
