do i need guard rubbers
 

G'Day all

shortly i will be undertaking a full respray of my 76 targa and i have noticed in some of the pictures posted on this site that the rubber seals around the guards are missing does this cause any problems eg leaking .

i think i like the clean look but dont want to create a problem

any advice

between the guard and the panel that holds the wipers

I think we're confused on what you mean by "guard". Which part does this refer to?

Guard = mudguard = front fender.

I agree with Geronimo and JP911, he appears to be referring to the beading between the fender and cowl. To answer his question, that beading needs to be in place to close and seal the gap between the sheet metal pieces and to prevent metal-to-metal rubbing of the parts. If you've seen pictures where the bead is missing, possibly the car is question is not complete in its assembly/restoration or the bead has been painted over and you cannot distinguish it from the photo.

i also get the rubber comments we call them frangers dont ask me why i dont know

but i will be more careful with my choice of words in the future.

as for the actual tassie devil they are not quite the same as the warner bros character
