Im curious to find out why you choose your particular engine
(3.2,3.3,3.4,3.6 etc) as a plataform to increase the HP?

Going from a 3.0L SC engine to a 3.3L 930 Turbo engine was a no brainer. The 930 is the least expensive of the turbo motors and it can be modified to any power level needed.

Juan,
I went to a 3.6 for the following reasons :
1) It was an easy way (perhaps the easiest) way to lots of torque and horsepower. My previous engine was a 2.7. Spending the same amount may have brought me close to the horsepower but not the torque and would have been a very high strung engine.
2) Effort for a 3.6 vs. a 3.2 conversion is the same. If I'm going to do a conversion, I may as well do it once.
3) I know, personally, that I can never have enough torque and horsepower. A prepped 3.2 would have been a big leap from the 2.7 but I knew that somewhere down the road I would want more. The 3.6 would, I believe, give me a higher baseline to add torque and horsepower. The turbos may have been another option but knew that it was going to cost even more money down the road (more to play with and upgrade). Not to mention the different driving style needed. Internally, I don't know enough to know if the other 3.x engines are a better platform to improve from but it seemed that there were some uprades (3.8) available to bump me up to higher levels if I wanted to
4) The cost differential between a used 3.2 and a used 3.6 was not that far apart for the benefits that it gave.

The drawbacks are autocross/racing classifications will put a 3.6 equipped 72T in a bracket that I will not be competitive in based on driver skill, mechanical preparation or car design (in that order). I believe that 3.2 would have let me stay in a "kindler/gentler" classification group and perhaps be more competitive. This is based on the article about Randy Wells - Circuit Star in Excellence. However, I derive a great deal of pleasure from simply being on the track/autocross course without "winning". I've yet to drive the 3.6 on the track but am counting the days. Of course having all this seamless power on the street is even better.

Rick

Got a good deal on a wrecked '87 at an auction. Comes with all wiring, tach, fuel pump, suspension goodies and everything we "forgot". We also will have lots of parts to sell when finished (G-50 anyone?).

We are building the car, however, for the same class as Randy's. The bad news is that I'm in the same region as Randy, and will be competing with him. That's gonna hurt!
