Has anyone sold their SC Targa lately?

If so what condition was it and how much did you get for it? Is it even possible to sell one of these in this market in good condition? I have my doubts about demand for SC years.

I don't follow the market because I'm not ever planning to sell my SC but it would seem like a good condition SC with a 3.6 motor with "modern" fuel injection would be worth anywhere from the teens to $20k. All depends on the buyer. Maybe you should post a couple pictures.

Saw an SC for sale today at Supercar Sunday. Had a 3.2 and was asking $10K. I didn't investigate why the asking price was so low. On one hand, you have a "better" motor. On the other hand, it's not matching numbers original.

I just purchased a 75 targa with a 3.6, expensive wheels and 930 suspension and brake(plus alot of other nice goodies) for 15.5k. I felt like it was a decent deal. Couldnt begin to even build one for that amount.

When I was shopping a few years ago, I would find seven or eight Targas for sale for each Coupe that I found. They seem to be relatively plentiful around here (Connecticut), yet the sellers were still holding out for Coupe prices.

I'm looking for a project-coupe from several sources....and it seems ALL I can find for sale in the various ads are Targas !!!

Maybe because as you refine your "search terms"....you enter either "coupe" or "convertible". As the Targa fits neither decription...it seems to end up under the defacto-standard "coupe" description....argghhhh......

BTW...Noah....just "where" are these mystical cars with 3.2's...( either original or modded SC's) for $10k?. What is Supercar Sunday? Another West coast thing that us poor wrong-coast guys never see ??

I sold my 85 targa carrera for $8,500.
It ran well, passed emissions need some cosmetics, but was very straight and no rust. 2nd gear syncro. was bad. I felt it was fair price.

As a reference point:
My buddy bought a very used TARGA a real driver ... with great aftermarket suspension and muffler (actually it is an '84 Carrera) for 11,000.
Needed a bit of work not too much... but seemed like a okay deal. Somewhat ratty interior..

I sold my '82 SC Targa (red/black) 1-year ago for what I feel was fair to me and the new owner. My car was a nice and fairly original 50K mile car with new head studs, AC and various other updates / upgrades. It was a great driver not a concours car. I would rate it an excellent driver and a solid 8/10 in mechanical and cosmetic condition.

At the time of sale it needed a valve adjustment and had seepage from the oil return tubes (approx $1K of work). I got $17.5K (full asking price) and it sold quickly to an out of state buyer. I miss this car and am looking for another one now.

This guy has been trying for a while in the local paper. It sounds like it could be a nice car, but that seems like a lot for an SC.

"1986 Porsche 911 Carerra Targa, removable panel top, guards red exclnt car. 3.6L new engine upgrade, 16" Fuchs turbo wheels, over $40K in upgrades. Your gain, my loss, $28K"
