First: I lowered the car and put wider wheels on.

Second: Made everything I touched comfortable or the way I like it.

I ripped out the old A/C and replaced it with after-market, super cold A/C.
Best money I've spent!

First mod

My first mod was having the rear springplate bushings replaced, a new set of rear shocks put in, followed by RAISING the ride height some, a corner balance and an alignment. Totally transformed the drive-ability of the car and turned it into what I wanted, a true long distance machine.

245's on the rear in place of the anemic 225's. Dansk 1 in 2 out muffler and Steve Wong chip.

Funny, I thought about doing this topic just yesterday while eyeballing my car; ever do that?!? Then I thought, "No, that's ridiculous..." So, my list just for kicks: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/sad2.gif New 16" tires and freshly refinished 7s and 8s, black with polished lips and petals, now two sets of locks per wheel and fresh lug nuts, too; bought like new rebuilt Targa top ($$); H4s, seals, and body color rings; OEM 930S Wheel and hub; black leather sport seats; ride height to Euro, maybe a bit lower; and alignment; valve adjust and oil change (yeah, those are maint. items; also rotor and cap); Euro rear lenses and seals, new; UltStrut support for the bonnet; new Cocos; misc. crap like replacing nuts /bolts, door tops, paint touch-up, rocker panel replacement, license frames, new chin spoiler, fog lens, cowl seal/trim, etc., polish, wax, soap; filled out tool kit; compressor.....it's no longer very close to a $20K car; sure is a good thing I love it!! :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...eys/yltype.gif Mirror bras, OEM, really like the look with all the black that's on the car; mat over the folded down rear seats; in otherwords, nothing earth shaking, but it's "maintained" and looking a WHOLE lot nicer!!

Make sure your mechanicals, motor, suspension, brakes, tranny ect.. are in good shape. That is the most important. After that, I'd do the lowering/corner balance.Exhaust and chip next.Get in some track time/DE, learn the car and your abilities.Do the cosmetic stuff, steering wheel, shift knob ect..

Oil-fed chain tensioners 30 years ago.

Switched from Zenith to Weber carbs 20 years ago.

That's about it.

Best,
Tom

Stickers. Lots of stickers.
And an antenna ball.

Then get rid of those damn rubber brake hoses and go with stainless.
Be sure they meet/exceed DOT testing requirements - like Power Braid or Stop Flex.

zippy_gg 02-16-2011 08:09 AM

All new brakes, bushings, and suspensions all around.
New interior (carpet and seat to be recovered).
Seine shift system.

I haven't touched the engine/transmission yet, nor the electrical.
A new canvas top may be in order, but last on my priority list.

JeremyD

Deciding to do my mod is all your fault! :-)

I think for modifications, wider tires. Bigger torsion bars and turbo tie rods.
Did do all new drilled brake discs, & rebuilt the calipers, and new bearings but I rack that stuff up to over due maintenance.
