good and reasonable an oxymoron ?

hello,
looking for a good shop.......after reading some of the posts and experiencing it myself i can attest to the fact that high cost for diagnosis and repair doesn't not always equate to quality service...the old adage you get what you pay for may not apply (another oxymoron?).
does anyone know of some reasonable, reliable shops in the west Los Angels area? not looking for a debate but looking for shops people have been happy with . honest advice appreciated.

TRE Motorsports does excellent work and is reasonably priced. Plus, Dave B. and his crew are friendly and knowledgeable.

"Good and reasonable" are often "opposites", in fact. I've always heard the best of TRE.....you done came to the right place to post that question.........

The bonus is that Dave is genuine nice guy/enthusiast. He drives a modded 914 and does great RS clones. He's done me a lot of favors.

Along with John Walker, people ship him jobs from out the area.

Life is too short to deal with unfriendly douche nozzles that over charge and are in it for the bucks.

are dave and john are in the same shop or are they at different ones? Van Nuys is over the hill in the valley anyone know of shops on the west side santa monica west l.a. i am willing to drive if i can get it done right and not always feel as though i am getting hosed and that they are doing me a favor.....really appreciate the information...comments about having to redo several times are one of the main reasons for my post. thanks again.
