Electric Porsche
Does anyone know about the electric Porsche conversions done by evporsche.com?

I've read about the 914s. It never made any sense to me to take a Porsche and convert it to electric power. It seems starting with a Corolla would be more cost effective.

Keep in mind that Porsche did it first in 1900 - 110 years ago! So, seems somewhat appropriate to me. That said, there still is something about cavemen and fire, and controlling fire in a combustion chamber, that is just so much more enjoyable than an electric car, no matter how fast it will go.

Here's a guy who took a $15,000 car, spent upwards of $15,000 to convert it to electric power, and sold it for $10,000. Electric Porsche On any other car that would be unusual, but he'd owned a 911 for 17 years so he was probably used to losing his ass.

Not so long ago I saw an electric targa in a french 911 mag called Flat6 Magazine, it's called a RUF Greenster, on a 997 body. Not for me but it looked nice. Man, those batt's are heavy.
Take care, O-

I might have a shot at it if I had a complete shell lying around and no motor for it -- assuming I already have another one with a flat-6... Especially, if I were young and -say - an engineering major at UC Davis or something similar.
I'd be looking to strip a Nissan Leaf for parts, and to also find the locations of every wrecked Tesla in existence... Electric drive will only get better as time goes forward... An electric 911 still has the handling and steering virtues that we prize so much. But for the next decade or so, an electric drive 911 will have inferior performance to a flat-6. |

I happen to have a 911 with no engine. Last night I started considering going the electric route...but when you look at the current options, the best I could hope for is about 100-120 mile range, top speed looks like possibly 100 (with considerable loss of battery) and probably fair acceleration. I agree with a number of posts here, interesting idea, however, not for about 10 years or so...when price, weight and efficiency get better...
but that is just my 2 cents.

I've been looking for and waiting for an EV conversion for my 911 for years, and I'm supposed to get a Nissan Leaf in April. Given how butt ugly the Leaf is, I have been wondering about swapping out the body somehow hehe -T
