I know, wrong forum, help!
My wife's 2002 Boxster check engine light came on, code P1130. I plan to take out the after market filter, clean the MAF and clean the throttle valve and check for vac. leaks. My question is can someone post a site on throttle valve cleaning, maybe from Waynes book? Sorry for the post but no one on the Boxster side. Thanks lenny!!SmileWavy

I don't have link but I routinely clean the throttle valves on our cars. I use simple carb cleaner and spray it inside the opening around the butterfly. You probably will see black/brownish residue. Work the throttle by hand so that it moves freely.
The MAF sensor needs a special cleaner so go to the parts store and get some before starting. DO NOT use carb cleaner on a MAF. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/28-FUEL-Throttle_Body_Cleaning_-_Boots/28-FUEL-Throttle_Body_Cleaning_-_Boots.htm EDIT-found a link that works:) I hope this helps some. |
Thanks Wayne this is what I needed, by the way I have a Max Scan GS500 do you know how to reset the check engine light with this tool? I went over and over the manual several times.

Bklyn, you may wish to check out PedrosBoard.com. It used to be PorschePetesBoxsterBoard, but sadly, Pete passed on. Pedro took up the board. Lots of good stuff for Boxsters here, and he is in FL and a good guy, not far from you. Active group. Glenn

Section 4.2 in the owner's manual indicates that you should be able to select "erase codes" and then confirm the command. I used your model number for doing the search and then used the PDF to read the manual section.
You gotta love technology. if all else fails, the Autozone crew can erase codes for you.:D |
Hey Wayne, this worked!!! Thanks guys

Glad I could help.
I've already put my request in with the financial controller(wifey) for a scan tool for my b-day. |
I believe it was around $69.00 with cables and a soft case. Seems to work well for that price.

Just disconnect the battery and reconnect after 10-20 seconds, that should reset it.
