shop in oc
Hello all,
I recently bought a 1983 911sc and I want to lower it to euro standards. I have the 101 projects book but with my limited tools and the fear I might screw something up, I think I will have a professional do it. I have checked a lot of previous posts, but I need a recent opinion of a good shop in OC California around Newport or Huntington Beach area. Thanks in advance Pat B 1983 911sc ![]() ![]() |

Can't go wrong with Hergesheimer MotorSports in Lake Forest, Aase Motors in Orange, or Steve Alarcon at Johnson Alignment in Torrance for suspension work.

Try Marc Bixen at Red Line Service (RedLine Technik) in Long Beach (562.901.2900). He was Pete Zimmermann's lead mechanic for many years and when Pete retired, he took over the Red Line Service shop. They specialize in the air-cooled stuff. His RedLine Technik site also has a lot of great articles on Porsche racing and good video's too. I've had really good experiences with him on all Porsche related things with my 911S.

I really appreciate all responses and the compliments on the car. I never thought I would enjoy driving this car as much as I do, It makes driving to work more enjoyable. One more question, To change shocks, lower car, and change spring plates, can I get this done all for under a grand. Thanks in advance. here is a couple more picks, one before the tint job.

Newport Motorsports in Costa Mesa is an excellent Porsche shop -- Chris is the owner. His speciality is early 911s, but he services them all.

Beautiful Car from one Patrick B to another!
I've been a loyal customer/fan of Aase Motors (Fullerton) for years. Also of Steve Alarcon - Johnson Alignment in Torrance. Most of the top racers in POC in SoCal use the two mentioned shops. I can't speak from experience, but have heard nothing but positive about Hergesheimer's. I've met Mark and laura at AX Events they've sponsered, but know Laura's son Eric Oviatt a bit better. He's an excellent mechanic, and an amazing race car driver and instructor for both POC and PCA. They also have full alignment/corner balancing available.

Mike Never, ever sold a 914 on e-bay, again never, ever. Remember years ago a gentleman who bought a 914 from a one-time customer that had been advertised on e-bay. Remember specifically telling gentleman we had not done extensive work on the car, just enough work to get it on a trailer. Remember telling him that repeatedly and that he should really check out the car before he bought it. Didn't care to listen to us. Told us he knew these cars real well. Always felt sorry for that guy, he should have listened to us, could have saved himself a lot of money and grief. But he knew these cars real well. Really hate it when people advertise that a car has been maintained by our shop for years and the only records we have are for 1 oil change. Not much we can do about people using our name how they like, just wish they would get the facts straight. Laura Hergesheimer |

Marc Bixen is great. He's my mechanic, but for suspension work he is going to reccomend you go to Darren at West End Alignment in Gardena (310-808-9233).
Or at least he did with me. I went to West End and am a satisfied customer (lower to Euro ride height, corner balance and align).

I've been driving to CA every year or so for twenty or thirty years. I always stay for the weekend on the coast in Laguna Beach. I've driven my 911 there and back to AZ twice without incident. But I like to carry tow truck and shop numbers just in case...
Does anyone know anything about Frank's in Laguna Beach? Does anyone know of any shops in the area that are open on Saturday or Sunday? Thanks, Bob
