Headlight Warning Chime

Being fairly brainless I left my headlights on for awhile today...luckily I have a new battery so I didn't run out of juice.

The PO of my car took out the relay between the power window relay and the windshield washer relay behind my speedometer...is this the one I need to restore my headlight warning chime? It would also control the seat belt chime, I believe. I've included a picture, I think I need number 2. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Thanks.

I think you are right about #2 being a warning chime.....but IIRC, it's only for keys-left-in-car ignition.....or?

My 83 euro had it added when Federalized. It was for both keys and lights.

Yanked it and gave it the float test.

That'a what I'm saying ( asking?)..... I think your relay reference is correct but STOCK as a US model, I don't think they were meant as headlight chimes, I think they were meant as keys-in-ignition chimes. Like JoeBob, I jettisoned that annoyance long ago and can't recall for sure all its functions. Someone here should be able to confirm "chimes for what?".....

On my '89, the headlights go out when key is off/removed. Parking lights stay on.

I would really like the parking lights to be on the warning buzzer. I like to leave the fog swich on, and use the parking & fogs for DRLs when I am driving at the speed limit. BUT when I park the car the fogs go out, and the parking lights stay on. I can't seem to train my feeble brain to add 'lights off' to my shut down checklist.

Thanks Wil and vracer...

yeah, I'd forgotten the headlights do go off when the key's removed. I saw the side indicator light on (I have a Euro model) and that tipped me off that I hadn't pushed in the light switch.

I've searched and Wil it seems like you're right...the warning buzzer is for the key left in the ignition.

So far, I haven't done that!
