				Bilstein Valving Advice

We are putting together our 76 track car, with 22/29 tbars, and plan to get the car down to about 2200 lbs without driver. This will be our track car. I was wondering if anyone has had their shocks/struts revalved with a setup like this, and what specs did you use? About to send everything to Bilstein, they made it sound like the best thing to do was ask around and see what specs have worked for other people, and they could valve them accordingly. Maybe I talked to the wrong guy? Anybody have a similar setup? Thanks!

Call elephant racing, they have a "dyno" for shocks and have a database of settings for setups such as yours. You would probably have to get them to revalve--which they do.

My local guy, Steve Weiner is the man for all things suspension. You can contact him here, his Pelican handle is Steve@Rennsport or check his Web pages here: www.rennsportsystems.com

You'll find this is a touchy area for many businesses that do this kind of work. Dont expect them to reveal settings, as these are proprietary, and are the result of a lot of testing/study. I sent mine to Rich Walton at Jerry Woods' and asked for their race valving.

Another option would be Clint at Rebel Racing.

I sent mine to Smart Racing and got their F10/R10 valving which is supposed to match the 22/29 torsion bar rates.

Smart Racing lists revalving in their catalog and no one doubts Jerry Woods' knowledge of Porsche race cars but I would really suggest that you at least talk to Steve Weiner (Rennsport Systems). A conversation with him is a direct conduit to some of the best information around.

As Wayne suggests, talk to different sources. In the end, I chose Rich Walton and Jerry Woods due to their racing experience specifically at the tracks I frequent. Their F10/R10 race valving is the best setup compromise for Sears Point and Thunderhill that I believe you can find. I would suggest you find someone in the Houston area who has specific experience at local tracks and use their knowledge and/or services. There is no substitute for research laps.
