Thanks for the link but....

Carbon fibre front deck lid 922 USD + taxes

Aluminum rear decklid 2180 USD + taxes (this must be a typo, right? WRONG)

Aluminum is expensive in the UK, acid must be really cheap....

That's pretty cool, but just looks wrong on a car of this vintage, IMHO.

Solution: Paint with favorite color.

I don't understand the fasination with CF. Looks wrong as noted, and if you paint it, the weave pattern often still "bleeds through".

What's not to like? Done correctly, it's very light as well as very strong.

I'm not talking about the carbon weave over FG or the faux CF parts or CF effects so popular in the import scene.

Basically the same as painting FG. Here's a doc from MA Shaw about prepping and painting: http://mashaw.biz/instructional/Prime_Paint_Carbon.pdf

The folks over at the import forums are funny (different perspective). Some comments: "Why would you buy CF panels if you were going to paint it?" and.... "Yeah, painting CF defeats the purpose."

Oh well,
Sherwood
