Depending on what province, it will have to have a safety inspection and emissions testing. Each province is different in regards to emissions, and in the case of BC, only the lower mainland requires AIRCARE. But seeing that we seem to have an ever growing number of RHD cars in Canada, i don't foresee too many issues.

there is a large thread on this in the Canada sub-forum, though it deals with purchasing abroad and importing. It may be slightly different if you already own the car, but someone there might have some knowledge

Which port will you bring it through?

as your car is older than 15 years, it is RIV exempt, and like jason said, it will probably only need to pass a safety inspection, depending on where you live

I've imported a RHD Landcruiser from Japan and in most provinces there should be no problem as long as the car is minimum 15 years old (no problem with an SC). If the car is 25 years old there should be no duty assessed either. I'm thinking that you should have a minimum of fuss. Cheers

Quebec has banned registering right hand drive cars, and I think Prince Edward Island has banned them too.

the rules about annual smog/emissions testing vary by province. in Ontario, cars made before 1988 are exempt from annual smog/emissions testing.

You might need to change the headlight lenses to symmetrical. In Europe they are not.
Also, as you did not state the model, you might have an issue with unleaded fuel. Using it in cars not adapted may cause valve damage.

The headlight issue is one that I'm sure you're aware of. You will likely have to change out the originals to LHD spec. Being from the UK, I'm assuming you have H4's, which in a LHD world, the "cutoff" angles upward into the oncoming traffics eyes. Some RHD's have managed to get into the country without changing (like my LC) but the performance was so poor after focusing them down and to the right (to be courteous), I changed them for proper LHD lights. Cheers

Every province is different as stated above, for sure it will have to have a saftey inspection, may need an unleaded fuel sticker on the gas cover flap, my car from the states had to have the tint taken off the front side windows, thats a BC thing, speedo has to work, I assume its in KMS not miles but if it is then stickers may have to be put on the face of the speedo, drivers window has to go up and down or at least down, driving lights and fog lights can only work on low beam. E-mail the local Canadian tire in the area your moving to and they should send you the paper work they use for their inspection cause they are the only one thats allowed to do international inspections. all lights have to work as well, just basic stuff, should be no problem, where are you moving to?

well if you are moving to Kelowna then AIRCARE is not needed, still will need the inspection from Canadian tire though.
