Strut support while shocks out/Car lift points-where?

I am taking my shocks out for rebuilding tomorrow and am trying to figure out how to support the front struts when I take the shocks out so i can put the wheels back on and roll it around. Im sure somebody has figured this out somehow. I was thinking a piece of rebar with 2 washers welded on either side, to sit where the bottom and top of the shock goes. Any ideas?

Also I am putting the car up in a friends lift tomorrow and am wondering at what 4 places should the car be lifted by? The friend has never lifted a rear engine car so he doesnt know either...oh the joys of DIY lol

Michael,

Have a look here (includes few examples of lifts used)

Where is a 911's fore/aft balance point?
