Powdercoated my fan and cleaned up the engine

That's worth what... 25hp?

Before...

After.

Disconnected the 2nd hose so I can get the A/C drained and do an A/C Delete (if anyone notices it's missing lol)

"Armordillo" here in town did it, was very impressed with their work!

Looks great! Worth the effort....

I think 25 is pushing it unless you chrome the fuel lines. Nice job!

Is that cable just above the air cleaner snorkel for cruise control?

Beautiful job. Can you do mine next?
I get major deductions at Concours for a dirty engine!

I do believe so, PO told me it had been disabled and the vacuum lines are just laying there. I plan on removing it as well as the A/C and storing them should I ever decide to revert.

Bob Kontak 03-11-2011 05:39 PM

Thanks.

I read somewhere the entire AC system weighs 108 pounds. That's equates to a couple of ponies.

CorsePerVita 03-11-2011 05:41 PM

Yeah, it never really has a climate here that I use the A/C. If anything I roll down the windows or take the tops off on my cars or open a sunroof. Never was a big A/C fan. If I can lose some weight I am all for it.

Damn! That does look nice.

Probably worth more like 30hp, at least when driving with the boot open so others can admire the cleanliness and beauty of the results!

I gotta clean up my engine bay. Yours looks sweet!

Is it ok to pressure wash the engine to clean? Just bought a 3.2 that needs some help. I am so use to doing that on modern cars but not sure if that is the way to go on an older car?

Any good engine cleaning advise?

I don't like to pressure wash things, water tends to go places I don't like it to.

Generally on an engine I prefer to do it by hand. Soft towels, good cleaners and a wide variety of other tools like a tooth brush (which is good for ribbed surfaces, such as the heaterbox hoses), and other various brushes. Small paint brushes are nice to get into tight crevasses as well.

I prefer to keep it to metal polish for nice metal surfaces, vinyl cleaner, plastic polish and window cleaner. You'd be amazed at what you can do with basic tools and nice cleaners.

Wow, nice transmorgification! Your "before" looks like my "after"...

Looks great.

Did you take the powder coating off where the alternator mounts? Also where the fan butts up against the alternator shaft? I've had some come loose from where the coating breaks up under those spots. Just trying to help here, not rain on your parade.

I removed my AC system front to back, (including the fan in the Smugglers box) and lost 74 lbs.

Put it all on the scale.

Looks Great! That's my next project.
