To paint or not to paint?

I am going to adjust the valves, this weekend and want to know your thoughts,
Should I paint the valve covers or send it to powder coat or leave it the way it is?I am more leaning toward powder coating. My questions are:
1-Do you guys know any place in LA area, preferably Valley.(phone# and or address)
2-How much should I expect to pay for, 4 covers and the fan blade.

This is the paint that I am going to use.

Covers are cleaned with degreaser and then again with Lacquer Thinner.

Fan blade is painted before and it already chipped in couple of places.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Masis.

im not in the area you are but, i would suggest powder coating. its a little more expensive but, well worth it. just think about all the rock chips youre going to encounter on the lowers if you just paint them.

Powdercoating is the ONLY way to go... if you want it to last, and clean off ANY debrie with just soap and water.....

Thank's for your input,I just came back from a powder coating shop close to where I work and the guy quoted me $150 for 4 valve covers and fan blade in plain black or gray

or $25 extra(175) to do the hammered Gray

or if I want any other color like red or glossy it goes up by $100 extra(250)

Do you guys think the price is fair.I kind of like the hammered gray.

Thank you.

Masis

Well... that all depends on how often you lie on the floor to admire your valve covers! On the other hand I would definitely have the fan power coated as it is the first thing you see when you open the engine lid.

I think 4 valve covers is a $30-50 job based on my experience - the place I had mine done was in rural Ohio but it was a powder coating facility vs. a boutique type place. Search around some more.

Edit - there is also the hassle factor to consider - It was a 45 minute drive each way.

thats pretty fair i think. ive always been charged $35 a valve cover from the place locally where ive had stuff done in the past. hammered grey is legit one of my friends had his galant vr-4's valve cover done in it and it really dones set it apart without looking tacky.
