Warming up in Michigan - Storage question...

This is the first time I'll be bringing my 72T out of storage. It hasn't been started since November. Batteries have been on a trickle charge. Is it OK to start the car right up? Is it necessary to change oil/gas before starting for the first time? I'll be changing both after I start it up and run it. I have other repairs I need done and I was going to drive it to my mechanic for a spring prepping and minor repairs.

You're gonna have to start it up at some point. Might as well turn the key and see what happens. Then take a nice long drive to the mechanic's to have all those little things done to freshen it up for the spring.

Not that it's particularly helpful at this point, but in the past when I lived in snowy places and put motorcycles away for the winter, I'd put Stabil in the gas to preserve it through the winter and perform an oil change right before mothballing it for the season. That way I wouldn't have to change the oil in the spring, and I wouldn't have all the acidic combustion byproducts sitting in the oil, microscopically etching their way into the sump over the winter. I'd also fog the cylinders with a squirt of oil from a turkey baster into each sparkplug hole, but that might be a bit more difficult to do in a car due to limited sparkplug access.

Definately should be using Stabil or SeaFoam in the fuel. I use SF all year long.

Where in MI are you located?

You should be ok to drive it to the mechanic.

Welcome to Pelican!

I'm up north of Flint but hang with the guys from the PCA RSR group. You should come on down to the swap meet on 04/16 in Farmington Hills.
