Yakima roof rack on early 911?

Hi all,

I'd like to get a roof rack to carry my Hoosiers to the race. I've read that the Yakima 1A RainGutter system will work on my '71 911 (though it's not officially recommended by Yakima).

Basically, I'd just like to hear from a single person who's used the Yakima rack successfully on an early 911 so that I be sure it will really fit.

I had used one on my 86 Carrera.... not sure that helps- but I put two bikes on it and it worked great!

Thule also makes a gutter system that will work on your car.

I've had the Thule with a fairing (looks good but adds wind noise) on my 87. Works great for bikes and snowboards. You can remove it en bloc easily.

i've seen a yakima rack on a coffee brown early 911 at my mechanic's shop. sorry i couldn't have been more help.
