What's the best upgrade you've done to your SC?
Just curious, I have an 82 SC and I am debating putting 46mm PMOs and SSIs on this summer. The only thing I've done since I've had it is a short shifter, momo wheel and upgrade the front seats. But the bug is starting to get stronger...

A 3.6......
|
Backdate everything and what Joe said.
|
SSI's, M&K, removed back seats and floor soundproofing, installed RS carpet kit. Different car afterwards.
|
and maybe consider PMO 40's instead of 46's unless you plan on going over 3.0 in the future...
|
New Corbeau Targa's.
1. My stock leathers were pretty well worn 2. Stock non-sport seats just don"t hold the way I like |

Upgraded to a 3.2 (around 50 hp addition), G50 transmission, upgraded the interior, bigger sway bars, and a bunch of other things.
Oh, wait, I sold it and bought a Carrera! ;) |
Remove all the non essential stuff in the engine bay; AC, Heater Blower, smog etc., Then add, 46 PMO Carbs, M&K 2/2, RARLYL8 Tuned Headers, DRC GT2-108 Cams, MSD, Clewett Wires, J&E 98mm pistons and cylinders, Momo 380 mm steering wheel, stiffen the suspension and add some Wevo sway bar mounts, short shift kit, etc.

Any way you go will be $$$.
I've done a top end, ssi, m&k, ac delete, backdated heat, cobra rs seats, rotas, duck tail, rear seats gone, rennshift shifter, bilstein sports all around, lowered it, wevo motor mounts AND inplan on RS carpet and door panels as well as removing the floor coating. I probably could have bought a 3.6 for the money I've spent already but then what would I have to look forward to :) |
Lots of great mods listed, but, I'd suggest the old tried and true philosophy of weight reduction and suspension upgrade before chasing HP through mods.
Check out ShakinJoe's thread ont weight reduction and there are numerous TB & sway bar upgrade threads. Removing 200 - 500 lbs and updating to larger torsion/sway bars + corner balance/alignment will feel like higher HP and planted on rails in the corners Probably the cheapest place to start as well. After the above I'd go with back date heat, A/C removal (if not already done), SSI, M&K, WEVO (or similar) etc... Then when that doesn't put a grin on your face anymore get a 3.6 :p |
Hard to say with so much done, but I lean towards really liking my big brakes and sticky tires on wider wheels. :D
That said, as far as going faster, doing the SSIs, sport exhaust, gearbox with short 2,3,4,5th, and slightly shorter tires all at once was a big obvious difference. Bang for the buck: removing weight for sure. |
OK....I'll list my mods.
TRE glass front end 73 RS back date duck tail 7 and 8 Fuchs Carrera sway bars, 22/29 t-bars Sport engine and tranny mounts dual oil coolers 3.6 with injection Wevo shifter and trans upgrades RS carpets, Leather Recaros, dropped driver ride height 3 inches Konis R tail lights, LED back ups H4s, Cibie H1s Light relays 993 gauges Roll bar Wiper relocation/single wiper AC delete, heat backdate Euro ride height Corner balance 993 HEs, 3 inch single outlet No Bad Days performance chip Probably more....... tough to answer... changing out the shift bushings, adding a short shifter and fresh fluid made the car "feel" the most different (actually took me a good day of driivng to get used to the new setup vs the old). completely new interior (carpet, 993 seats, tar removed and modern sound damping material used, rear seat delete) made the biggest interior visual change. 28mm rear wheel spacers, lowering the front and adding a chin spoiler on the exterior.
