911 SC Rear Seats Leather vs Vinyl?
Hey Guys,
How can you determine if the rear seats/cushions are leather or vinyl in a 911 SC? Iam asking because I have a 1980 sc coupe and the rear seat cushions look like in the first picture (one of which is damaged) I replaced them with the seat cushions from the 2nd picture (1979 Euro SC), and although the color is the same they look different. The new seat cushions have creases/wrinkles going through them. My original cushions are flat with no creases as are the seat backs and door cards. I have seen 2 versions with "creased" interior and without. can someone please shed some light on the interior? maube it was just an early vs late SC style?? thanks ![]() ![]() |

The first photo isn't the greatest but those seat pads look like leather. To be sure, look at the back side of the material, where it is ripped. Leather will look like suede on the back, vinyl will have a woven cloth backing. The second photo looks like vinyl. In general, the grain is more pronounced in the vinyls of that era. The leathers were smoother and any grain or wrinkling was somewhat less regular. Obviously, the two colors are different also.

Leather will suck conditioner in pretty quickly. Vinyl will not.
This is speaking in general. Surely dried out vinyl will wick some of it up.
